As we all know BANKSY - street-art artist - from the UK is VERY protective of his IDENTITY - I kinda get that. We also know, more or less, of his scorn for INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, however this has come back to BITE him on the bum as it were.
One of his MOST famous artworks a protester throwing a bouquet of flowers was painted in Jerusalem in 2005. It has since been reappropriated by the UK card company Full Colour Black, which has used the artwork on cards.
When he, Banksy, in 2015 FILED his trade mark, it was OPPOSED by Full Colour Black, who argued that he didn't intend to use the trade mark the way it is meant: for TRADE & BRANDING purposes!!!
Banksy then retaliated by opening up his own shop in 2019 to live up to the legal requirements behind a trade mark. Sadly and rather DEVASTATINGLY for Banksy the EU judges have ruled in FAVOUR of FULL COLOUR BLACK (FCB)!
The solicitor from FCB has drawn in to question whether Banksy's other trade marks are VALID?
So there you have it people. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR! Everything we utter becomes our reality. Even scorn for IP!
