Odd trade mark infringement case!
Big Cat Rescue Entertainment vs Big Cat Rescue
Carol Baskin owns and runs an animal sanctuary called Big Cat Rescue. The court ruled in Baskin's favour and she was awarded over $1million in damages.
Those of you who know me will spot the reason why I, personally, find this case odd.
There are many other twists and turns to make this a truly spectacular case. Not least a transfer of ownership of Exotics Animal Park to his, the owners, mother and former business associate in an illegal attempt to avoid handing over his assets to Baskin and other creditors.
Some of the other things that makes this into the spectacular case I mention above is the fact that the Tiger King hired a hitman to kill Baskin. Not to mention violation of the endangered species act and various other things. He now serves 22 years in prison.
Let this be a reminder of the inherent value of a trade mark!
They are highly effective when wanting to protect your reputation and brand, guys and girls, not to mention fighting off infringers(!).
What's not to like about that?
